THREE DIMENSIONS OF THE PROGRAM

The CEO’s Agenda

The CEO’s agenda comprises those responsibilities that cannot be delegated to others in the organization, such as setting strategic direction, leading change to build great organizations, deciding on long-term growth opportunities, serving as the “public face” of the organization, and acting as steward of the company’s values and culture. Each key responsibility serves as the design concept for a specific module, defining its content.

Themes of Leadership

Themes of leadership drive the topics defined by the CEO’s agenda:

  • thought leadership - the ability to incorporate and integrate alternative perspectives, to see forward and to operate out of one’s comfort zone

  • team leadership – the ability to lead peers and unify a corporate culture around a strong set of values

  • civic leadership – the ability to appreciate and manage the demands of external constituencies and stakeholders in a responsible fashion

These continuing leadership themes provide an opportunity for each participant to monitor and reflect on his or her own leadership development over the entire program.

Dimensions of Leaderhip

An Integrated Learning Experience

An integrated learning experience combines leading research and concepts with practical leadership experience. Each program module is delivered by a team of world-class academics and other thought leaders, together with current CEOs and Board members from leading global companies, interacting in group exercises with the participants. The program is focused on action-learning, cutting-edge thinking, and practically relevant advice. It is designed to create an environment where participants are encouraged and expected to be an integral part of each other’s learning experience. Thus, participants, CEOs, and academics serve as co-creators of knowledge, insight and action.

Participant

Mastering the CEO’s agenda creates new demands on leadership styles and personal skills ranging from the demands of leading peers to coping with the “solitude at the top.” To assist in each individual’s leadership development, the program’s academics, CEOs and fellow participants challenge, assess and advise each participant on personal leadership style, mindset, skills, and value orientation. The participants are drawn out of their usual comfort zones, confronted with new challenges - and discover new ways of addressing old ones – while they expand and strengthen their leadership skills.
